Parents: What lesson does abortion teach (or fail to teach) pregnant teens/young adults?

what are we teaching our daughters (and sons) if we as parents advocate or suggest abortion when our teens get pregnant? i don't feel that standing by your child through this hard situation and teaching them how to be a good parent, i don't feel that this "punishes" them for their mistake. i feel that it's responsible parenting to teach a child that everything we do in life has consequences and nobody should feel that they are above having to deal with the situations they've put THEMSELVES into.

it seems to me that we are teaching them that it's okay to overindulge in fun (sex) even if your too young, broke and immature to 1: be having sex at all, and 2: handle the consequences (pregnancy); so if you get pregnant just go have it aborted...

if your teen/young adult is that loose/immoral or sex-crazed, why not just teach them how to properly use condoms and birth control pills?

abortion for single/teen moms in my opinion is infanticide. it's not birth control. what do you think? should we as parents be teaching our children better when it comes to sex, birth-control and abortion?

i agree with both of you. it's wrong and parents should be teaching their kid something. nothing is being learned thru abortion. if it happens to my girls i'm going to tell them to "man up" and "get prepared"; your going to be a mother soon. it'll teach you for the next time... theres a reason why two loving parents inside of marriage are supposed to have kids and not gf/bf teens.

You are SO RIGHT!!!I have always believed that we have too easy a time listening to foul language and violence everywhere we go but when it comes to the body and natural functions we shroud it in mystery and rarely answer the important questions. I believe in Life and hope that one day abortion will be a thing of the past. Not because we take choices away from people but because we teach people how to make better life choices concerning relationships and sex. We always come to the "scene of a crime" and make judgments but education and communication about these things need to be made early in life. We are not dogs and cows that have no choice, we choose who we share ourselves with (most of the time). Teach our kids to make smart choices before they start experimenting with the "unknown".Stop glamorizing sex and teach values. Best wishes.

Since your question looks for only one lesson I would limit myself to your query status. The value of humanity is falling apart too rapidly in today's world as a result of which so much of violence world wide. What we need to teach is to ask to respect social bindings and human values specially to the upcoming generation. Other positive things would follow automatically.
